Bernard Hill, the English actor who played King Théoden in the "Lord of the Rings" film trilogy and Captain Edward Smith in "Titanic," has died at the age of 80.

Hill's death was confirmed by his agent on May 5, 2024, but no cause of death was given.

Hill's career spanned over four decades, and he appeared in over 100 films and television shows. He was known for his ability to portray strong, humble, and dignified characters, a style of masculine leadership that made him a standout in blockbuster films.
